Investing in Staff Wellbeing

Mark Burns · July 14, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Here is the link to the article on investing in staff wellbeing that I’ve written that will be appearing in both Headteacher Update and SecEd this month.

In an era of unprecedented uncertainty, with no end in sight, investing in well-being in our schools is key to maintaining relational trust and cohesiveness.

The article provides a range of practical strategies that can be explored within a leadership team or as part of a strategy of ‘building back better’ for the new school year with the whole staff.

The Covid virus has provided a natural and valuable opportunity to draw a line in the sand to step over and re-visit cultural norms in our schools.

Which norms really help to enhance the personal and professional regard of colleagues?

Which norms are unhelpful?

As explored in ‘The Learning Imperative’, unless we strategically build and maintain strong relational trust within our teams, then the potential for growth of our schools through learning will be inhibited.

Both SecEd and Headteacher Update are free to subscribe to, and provide a wealth of information to support teachers and school leaders. Highly recommended reading.
